ARTIST PROFILE

Tarka Kings, born 1961

Born in London, Kings trained at the Royal Academy Schools from 1981 until 1987. The subject-matter of her paintings is mostly modern buildings, post-war blocks of flats and street corners, all devoid of any obvious signs of life - no people or traffic - which gives them a still, timeless quality. They are executed in a cool palette, broken by dashes of colour.
